MOULTRIE — Colquitt County High School will hold three meetings Thursday, Feb. 23, to provide parents with information about the HOPE scholarship, dual enrollment and Advanced Placement.
At 6 p.m., Principal Bob Jones and director of guidance Keith Hall will discuss the new requirements for the state’s HOPE scholarship and grant program and answer parents’ questions.
At 7 p.m., representatives of ABAC will discuss dual enrollment, also called Accel and formerly called PSO. In dual enrollment, high school students can earn both high school and college credit for the same class. In years past, the classes have been held at ABAC on the Square, but the school system is considering holding the classes at CCHS this year, according to a letter sent out by CCHS assistant principal Ben Wiggins.
ABAC representatives met with students Feb. 10 to gauge the interest in the program. On Thursday, Gail Dillard and Kay Powell of ABAC will present information to parents and answer their questions.
Immediately thereafter — about 7:45 p.m. — CCHS will hold a meeting for students interested in taking Advanced Placement courses. At the end of each AP course, the student takes a test and may receive college credit for the class depending on that test score.
