Colquitt County sheriff's deputies burst in on a chicken fighting match Saturday on Highway 256, leading to 32 arrests.
Sheriff's Investigator Shannon Hart said investigators had been working the case for about a month, following up on an anonymous tip. The result was a search warrant executed at the residence at 11:30 a.m. Saturday.
Hart said most of the people arrested were from out of town. Thirty-one have been charged with being a party to the crime of cruelty to animals. The remaining suspect, property owner Wallace Gene Hurst, has not been formally charged yet, but Hart said he will face a variety of charges.
