Attention, local organizations! Let the community know who you are and what you do through The Moultrie Observer’s annual Community Guide.

The Community Guide is a factbook and directory for a variety of government agencies and private entities that make our community what it is. Publication is planned for March 31, but we’re collecting information for it through March 11.

One of the book’s sections deals with civic groups, clubs and other private organizations. The Observer is asking representatives of such groups to call us with updated information about their organizations.

A typical entry reads like this:

Colquitt County 4-H Club

Contact: Zona Medley, 616-7455

Purpose: To assist youth in acquiring knowledge, developing life skills and forming attitudes that will enable them to become self-directing, productive and contributing members of society. Programs include character and environmental education, agricultural awareness, life skills, career and leadership development.

Activities: Project demonstrations, judging teams, livestock shows and various other competitions.

Meetings: Monthly in all Colquitt County schools

Eligibility: Youth ages 9-19

Dues: No dues at elementary schools; middle and high school dues vary

We can include only those groups with whom we make contact, so even if your information in the 2010 Community Guide is still accurate, please let us know.

Please contact Adelia Ladson at (229) 985-4545 or by e-mail at by Friday, March 11.

And be looking for the 2011 Community Guide, due March 31.
