First-grade students at Cox Elementary School were finally able to harvest collards after months of patiently watching and waiting for the leaves to mature.
Some of the students picked the leaves while others learned how to prepare them to be cooked. All the students were given a chance to sample their cooked product. This was the first time some students had ever tasted collards.
Students will now have a chance to help out more often with the recent addition of the S.T.E.M. Garden Club.
