Colquitt County grand jurors recently returned indictments in a number of drug cases, including two against a Doerun man and his nephew who are accused of dealing drugs there and in Moultrie.
Ricky Lee Alford Sr., 52, and Derek Devon Alford, 24, both of 155 Minnesota Road, were indicted on charges of sale of cocaine, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of cocaine with intent to distribute. The arrests came in a November 2012 case that law enforcement said came after a nine-month investigation. The pair’s drug-dealing allegedly included customers in Colquitt and surrounding counties.
In a second indictment, the Alfords are charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute. Also indicted on that charger were Carneata Clark, 19 120 Robin Lane; Jennifer McCullough, 29, 1334 Summer Circle; Tameka Lewis, 43, 155 Minnesota Drive; and Dale McCullough.
In addition, Ricky Alford was indicted on a charge of fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer and interference with government property, Lewis on a charge of giving a false name and date of birth, and Clark on a charge of possession of marijuana.
In that incident, law enforcement on April 4 were watching Town Terrace Motel after receiving a tip that Ricky Alford, driving a Chevrolet Suburban, would be delivering drugs to someone there.
After the Suburban arrived and officers closed in, Ricky Alford is accused of driving away, striking an unmarked law enforcement car, before the SUV was stopped a few blocks away.
The Moultrie-Colquitt County Drug Enforcement Team said at the time that about 12 grams of cocaine were recovered from the Suburban and along the route of the chase.
