MOULTRIE — An Ellenton man was transported Tuesday for medical treatment after a single-vehicle accident on Highway 37 West.
Karmirise Grant, 20, ran off the roadway near Bass Road at about 6:10 p.m., the Georgia State Patrol said.
Grant told police that he took the 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt onto the shoulder of the road to avoid a car that was passing on a curve in his lane of travel.
After leaving the roadway the Chevrolet traveled about 200 feet before striking a utility pole with the front end and then running into a wire fence belonging to Thomas Clyde Hurst of Doerun, the reports said. Grant, who was transported by ambulance to Colquitt Regional Medical Center, was cited for instruction permit and graduated license violation.
There he was treated and released, a hospital spokeswoman said.
