Winners of the Agricultural Sales Placement Proficiency were recognized at the 83rd State FFA Convention held at the Macon Centreplex on April 28-30.
Proficiency awards are granted to FFA members who have excelled in their Supervised Agricultural Experience. The Agricultural Sales Placement Proficiency involves students who sell feed, seed, fertilizer or agricultural chemicals. Activities may include the merchandising of crops, livestock, processed agricultural commodities, horticultural or forestry items at either the retail or wholesale level.
In third place from the Colquitt County FFA Chapter was 2010 CCHS Graduate Jeremy Sutton. He is the son of James and Ellen Sutton.
Coming in second was Garrett Hurley from the Chattoga County FFA Chapter. The 2011 state winner in the Agricultural Sales Placement Proficiency was Thad Robinson from the Lanier County FFA Chapter.
Third place proficiency winners received a plaque and $25, second place winners received a plaque and $50, and the state winners received a plaque, $100 cash, and $500 travel money to attend the National FFA Convention. The advisor of the state winner also received $100 cash.
The Agricultural Sales Placement Proficiency is sponsored in Georgia by Titan/Goodyear Farm Tires and nationally by Vigortone Ag Products.
