An an award-winning gospel artist will perform at Union Grove Church of God in Christ in Moultrie on Sunday, April 5.

Lashun Pace has a career that has spanned three decades, beginning in the mid-seventies. She started singing with her sisters and they formed the gospel group, “The Anointed Pace Sisters.” Their career began to take off in the 1980’s and by the 1990’s, they seemed to be one of Gospel’s most popular acts.

They toured extensively and won awards for their performances. At the height of the group’s career, Pace launched her solo career while still singing with her sisters. After the success of her debut album, “He Lives,” she eventually left the group to focus exclusively on her own career.

Pace has recorded seven albums to date, all of which spent time in Billboard’s Gospel Top 10. Her last album, “Complete,” was released in 2007. These albums have garnered her several awards, including two Stellar Awards, which are some of Gospel music’s most sought after honors.

Pace is not only a singer, but also a songwriter, producer, evangelist, and author. Her autobiography, “For My Good But For His Glory,” chronicles her personal journey, including the sudden death of her 11-year old daughter. Her book and her songs are her testimony to the things “that God can do and has done in her life.” She is also an actress, co-starring in the 1992 film “Leap of Faith,” alongside Steve Martin. She also has had parts in other films, including “The Fighting Temptations.”

On April 5, at 6 p.m., the public is invited to come out and hear her songs of “hope and inspiration.” Among her most popular songs, “I Know I’ve Been Changed,” is about someone who has undergone the transformation “from sinner to saint.” Only 250 tickets will be sold for the concert so that attendees will have the opportunity to have an “up-close and personal” experience with Pace in an intimate setting. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door (if available). Those wanting to purchase tickets should contact Tracy Bridges McGee at 229-456-1396 or Rosie Hancock at 229-859-2084.

Tickets are also available at Mama’s Kitchen and My Personal Touch Restaurant.

Union Grove will also take this opportunity to introduce their new pastor to the public. Bishop Larry Shaw, Ph.D., became pastor of Union Grove in January 2009. He is one of 200 bishops serving worldwide within the Church of God in Christ, which has a membership of over 5 million. He is jurisdictional prelate of the Southern Georgia First Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of the Churches of God in Christ, a position he has held for seven years.
