MOULTRIE — A former nursing home employee was indicted this week by a Colquitt County Grand Jury.

Charles David Cone of Cairo, who was 47 when he was arrested in March, was indicted on two counts of sexual battery, sodomy and sexual assault against a person in custody.

The indictment accuses Cone of touching the genitalia of a resident of Woodlands Living Center on Jan. 25 and 26, and of performing sodomy on him Jan. 25.

Cone was an employee at the nursing home at the time of the alleged incidents but was released from his job immediately after the allegations were made, Woodlands administrator Joann Sloan said.

“It was reported to us and we in turn reported it to the police department,” she said. “He’s not worked with us since the time it was reported to us.”

In another indictment, four men and a woman were indicted on a charge of trafficking marijuana.

Mark Anthony Caballero, Katrina Shaniel Rosales, Mario Alberto Rosales, Vincent Pena Jr. and Daniel Sosa Jr. were described at the time of their arrest in June as part of a drug ring that shipped the drug from Texas to Georgia. Caballero was from Houston, while Pena and Sosa were from Humble, according to the Moultrie-Colquitt County Drug Enforcement Team.

They were arrested after a search at the Rosales’ 863 Sardis Church Road residence.

Officers seized 200 pounds of marijuana, valued by the agency at $300,000, $16,400 and three vehicles.
