MOULTRIE -- A Colquitt County grand jury this week indicted two Moultrie men on multiple armed robbery and aggravated assault charges after they allegedly impersonated police officers.
Shaun D. Burks, 18, 349 Lakeview Acres Road, and Julius J. Peterson, 18, same address, were indicted on three counts of armed robbery, seven counts of possession of a firearm during commission of a crime, four counts aggravated assault, impersonating a law enforcement officer and four counts of false imprisonment.
Investigators said the men targeted Hispanics in two home invasions and a robbery in August.
Burks allegedly entered the homes by flashing a badge and a fake search warrant before making off with cash and jewelry. Officers said Peterson was waiting in a van, which he later told authorities was stolen.
Police officers later found the abandoned vehicle, along with the warrants and walkie-talkies used by the suspects.
The men were apprehended at 349 Lakeview Acres Road several nights after the incidents.
The robberies are the latest in a long line of crimes against Hispanics, authorities said.
