MOULTRIE — Three people reported being injured as a result of a two-car accident Wednesday morning.

Kenny Lawton and Sandra Robinson, 57, both of 524 First Ave. N.W., and Lillie Jones, 79, of 115 Ninth Ave. N.W., were all taken to Colquitt Regional Medical Center with injuries from the accident. A hospital spokesperson said all three were treated and released Wednesday.

A Kia Spectra, driven by Lawton, was driving on South Main Street and had stopped to make a left turn onto Sunset Circle at 6:28 a.m. Wednesday. A Lincoln Town Car, driven by Willie Jones, of 115 Ninth Ave. N.W., was also on South Main Street and collided with the Spectra before it could make the left turn.

Willie Jones told a Moultrie police officer the Spectra stopped in front of him, and he could not avoid a collision. A passenger in the Town Car, Lillie Jones, reported being injured and was taken to Colquitt Regional by Colquitt County EMS.

Lawton and a passenger in the Spectra, Robinson, reported they were also injured but declined transport by EMS. They took themselves to Colquitt Regional for treatment of their injuries.

Willie Jones was cited for following too closely, but Lawton was not cited or charged in the accident. Both vehicles suffered major damage from the collision and were towed from the scene.
