Two men accused in the September 2011 shooting death of a Northwest Moultrie man were indicted last week by a Colquitt County Grand Jury.
Phirronnius Jamesquae Edwards, 24, 1786 Landfill Road, Pelham, and Michael Jamar Russell, 25, 393 Pecan Drive, Camilla, were indicted on a charge of felony murder.
Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office investigators said that the two men killed 29-year-old Billy Vontinue Hewitt during a robbery attempt.
Hewitt was fatally shot on Sept. 23 at his 208 29th Avenue N.W. residence.
A sheriff’s deputy was called to Hewitt’s residence that night on a call of a burglary.
Officers later found that Hewit had been shot and had gone to a nearby house to get help, breaking a window there to get their attention. The call of a burglary originated from that residence, not Hewitt’s.
Hewitt was found lying on his back on the back porch, and he told the officer he had been shot at his house.
Hewitt was shot in the chest, sheriff’s reports said.
