Moultrie police arrested a man last week that they had been wanting in connection with a shooting incident and an unrelated armed robbery.
Simon Peter Johnson Jr., 20, of 1416 Hutchinson Drive, was charged Tuesday with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, aggravated assault and armed robbery.
Johnson was wanted in connection with a shooting Feb. 16 on Eighth Avenue Southeast. He allegedly shot at a Chevrolet Malibu driven by Marcus Richardson with a .40-caliber handgun about 11:30 a.m. Feb. 16 during a an alleged drug turf battle.
Richardson, who was wounded, was also charged after an allegedly stolen handgun and marijuana were found in the Malibu.
Johnson also faces charges from an armed robbery that took place Feb. 9. Abe Dennis reported he picked up two males about 1 a.m. Feb. 9 at the VFW Park and dropped them off at an unknown house in Southwest Moultrie.
As Dennis went to put his vehicle in park, he stated the two men pulled out pistols and demanded money from him. They stole a variety of items, including $26 cash, a pair of Nike shoes, a Dickies coat and 12 gold teeth. The value of the stolen items was $531.
Dennis said the two men began hitting him in the face with their pistols. They forced him to get out of the car — a rented Chevrolet Malibu — and left him there as they drove off. He walked to the hosue of a friend, who took him back to his residence.
Dennis provided officers with the names of two suspects, one of whom was Johnson.
