A Colquitt County teen accused of damaging two golf carts while taking night joy rides faces motor vehicle theft charges.
John Skyler Cole was identified by witnesses as the person who took the carts, which had damages of about $4,600, Colquitt County Sheriff’s investigator Shannon Hart said.
One of the golf carts had been burned, and repairing it would have cost as much as buying another one, with damage estimated at $4,000. The other cart had about $600 in damages.
Debbie Joiner, of the 100 block of Blasingame Road, reported Nov. 14 that someone had taken the carts for a “joy ride” but were returned.
Hart said that the rides occurred numerous times.
Cole, 18, 183 Royal Road, was charged with two counts of theft by taking motor vehicle.
