MOULTRIE — A Moultrie man reported he was stabbed four times, once in the back of his head, by a female acquaintance Sunday night.

Gary Jefferson, 38, of Cool Springs-Ellenton Road, was taken to Colquitt Regional Medical Center for his injuries. He needed surgery for one of the stab wounds, but a hospital spokesperson said he was treated for the injuries and released.

The Colquitt County sheriff’s deputy’s report said the female acquaintance came to the residence about 11 p.m. Sunday after being gone most of the weekend. Shortly after she arrived back, Jefferson told deputies, they got into an argument.

During the argument, the woman picked up a knife from the kitchen, Jefferson said. She allegedly began stabbing Jefferson, stabbing him three times in the abdomen and once in the back of his head.

Jefferson was taken to Colquitt Regional while investigators processed the scene and began to look for the female acquaintance, reports said. They were unable to locate her, but the residence was secured before investigators and deputies left.
