MOULTRIE — A Funston man was apprehended after he allegedly knocked on several doors and fled from a Moultrie police officer Tuesday morning.

Anthony Jerome Rhodes, 32, of Foy Street in Funston, was charged Tuesday with duty to obey an officer, trespassing, three counts of probation violation and parole violation.

An officer was sent to Seventh Avenue Southwest about 8:55 a.m. Tuesday about a black male knocking on doors and asking people for a ride. The officer spotted a man matching the description sitting on the front porch of a house on Seventh Avenue Southwest, and the officer turned around.

When the officer returned to the house, the man, later identified as Rhodes, allegedly was gone. The officer heard dogs barking and saw fresh tracks behind the house, and he followed them to a creek bed.

Another officer arrived at the scene and searched the creek bed area while the first officer began patrolling the area around Riverside Manufacturing. The officer allegedly spotted Rhodes coming out of the woods and got out of his patrol car to speak with him.

The officer reported Rhodes told him he had done nothing wrong, but he tried to walk away from him. Rhodes allegedly ran from the officer and into a small creek and muddy area, causing both him and the officer to fall, before he was apprehended by two other officers.

Rhodes allegedly refused to tell officers any information before he finally told them his name. A check of his record showed the active warrants, and he was placed under arrest and taken to Colquitt County Jail.
