MOULTRIE -- Thieves robbed a grocery store drink machine and several change machines at a car wash between Wednesday evening and Thursday morning, police reports said.
Norma Ayala, of Harvey's Supermarket on Sixth St. S.E., called police after she found a Coca-Cola machine standing wide open in front of the store when she arrived to work at 7:30 a.m., reports said. The locking mechanism on the machine had been drilled out, and about $120 worth of coins and bills were taken. The machine incurred about $800 in damage, she said.
About 30 minutes later, Ashley Fann reported that three of his change machines at Hurricane's Car Wash on Veterans Parkway had been robbed, reports said.
Fann told police that more than $1,000 was taken from two machines, and damage totaled more than $300.
Joseph Zeigler, 177 Indian Drive, Lot 5, reported Thursday that his 5-year-old yellow Labrador Retriever was shot, sheriff's reports said. The dog was hit with either a .22 caliber or pellet gun, deputies said. It was treated at a veterinary clinic.
Ismael Codova, 581 Giles Road, reported that several items were stolen from his home when it was burglarized Thursday, sheriff's reports said.
James Coleman, 313 W. Bethel Ave., reported that the tires on three vehicles, one of which was his, were slashed between Wednesday and Thursday, sheriff's reports said.
Lori Summerlin, of Beall's Outlet on Talmadge Drive, reported Thursday that two black males wearing yellow shirts stole 14 pairs of boxer shorts underwear, police reports said. Summerlin told officers that one offender was between 30 and 35 years old, and the other was 40 to 45. They left in a red Ford Taurus, reports said.
Thomas McKean, 515 Fifth Ave. S.E., Apt. 8, reported that someone broke into his apartment between Wednesday and Thursday and stole $15 cash and a pack of Marlboro cigarettes, police reports said. The offender went in through a window, officers said.
Christopher Arnold, 23, 909 Fourth St. N.W., was charged Thursday with simple battery-family violence.
Ulric "Chico" Burgest, 27, 518 First St. N.W., was charged Thursday with violating probation.
Demetrius Johnson, 28, Doerun, was charged Thursday with two counts of bad checks, driving without insurance, driving an unsafe vehicle and leaving the scene of an accident.
Willie Holcomb, 39, 908 Fourth Ave. S.W., was charged Thursday with violating probation.
