MOULTRIE — A Moultrie man, with a record for disorderly conduct, was arrested after he allegedly harassed two women Sunday afternoon.

Jeremy Murray, 26, of 1017 Joe Louis Ave., was charged Sunday with disorderly conduct (fourth offense), duty to obey an officer and resisting arrest.

A Moultrie police officer was called to a house on Joe Louis Avenue at 5:01 p.m. Sunday about an argument. When the officer arrived, Murray, Katrina Thornton and Murray’s mother were arguing with each other.

As the officer walked toward the house, Murray allegedly was using profanity toward his mother and Thornton. Thornton told the officer she only wanted Murray to leave them alone when she reported the incident.

Police reports said Murray began cursing and told the officer he was not going to leave the women alone. The officer asked him several times to leave the house before he was placed under arrest after a brief struggle.

While being taken to Colquitt County Jail, Murray allegedly spit on the officer through the seat divider. He became belligerent and was using profanities upon arriving at the jail, the report stated.

When Murray acted like he was going to spit on the officer a second time, the officer grabbed him by the throat then took him to the ground. The handcuffs were taken off him, and as he stood up he allegedly drew back like he was going to strike the officer.

The officer pushed Murray away to prevent being hit, and Murray allegedly grabbed the officer’s shirt collar. The officer pushed Murray’s hands off him and sprayed Murray in the face with pepper spray.
