TIFTON — Andrew R. Underwood of the Moultrie Police Department was among 16 individuals who recently received certificates at graduation exercises for the 210th session of the South Georgia Police Academy Basic Mandate Class at Abraham Baldwin College.
Thomas M. Goodwin Jr. of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office received the Overall Achievement award for the session. He also received second place in Firearms and served as president of the class.
First place in Academic Achievement went to Austin B. Cooper of Tifton, sponsored by the South Georgia Police Academy. Selena R. Smith of the Valdosta Police Department received second place in Academic Achievement. First place in Firearms was awarded to Eric J. Rozier of the Albany Police Department.
The South Georgia Police Academy regularly holds multi-week intensive training sessions designed to acquaint officers with state-of-the-art law enforcement techniques. The Academy operates in cooperation with the Division of Social Science at ABAC.
