Organizers of the upcoming 2014 Community Career Resource Fair in Moultrie on Thursday, March 20, say they hope the event will be a catalyst in transitioning local job hunters into members of a viable workforce.

An estimated 50 local businesses and industries will assemble at Moultrie Technical College’s (MTC) Veterans Parkway Campus’s Southwest Georgia Bank Conference Center from 9 a.m. until noon for the 2014 Community Career Resource Fair.

Moultrie Tech and the Moultrie office of the Georgia Department of Labor will join forces to present the event to familiarize the businesses and industries in our region and job hunters with one another.

The event is open to the public as well as all Moultrie Tech students and graduates. Whether or not employers have jobs to offer at this time, job seekers will benefit from learning about local companies and what skills they would expect their employees to possess. In turn, businesses may find matches for future employment. Industries expected to be at the fair include healthcare, industrial manufacturing, sales and banking, among others.

“Moultrie Technical College’s spring semester ends May 2; therefore, businesses and industries will have the opportunity to meet the college’s graduating class as well as upcoming summer semester graduates. If an employer finds a good fit for an employment need, our well-trained, educated graduates will be ready to start work within a few weeks of the career fair,” says Bridgett Adams, MTC career services specialist.

Additionally, all job seekers are encouraged to bring updated resumes and all information necessary to complete job applications on site. Furthermore, to create a positive impact on employers, Adams urges participants to “make a great first impression; consider this the first interview with a future employer,” and to come dressed in business attire.

Because this is a professional event and space is limited, Adams says no children or strollers will be permitted.

Among the employers expected to participate in the fair are AshurTech, Inc., Albany Recruitment Center, Berrien County Board of Education, Experience Works, Georgia National Guard, Keystone Foods, Lowe’s, Lowndes County 911, New Hire Solutions, Perdue Foods, Publix, Quality Employment, Sam’s Club, Senior Life Insurance, Southwest Georgia Bank, Vocational Rehabilitation and many more.

Admission and parking for the career fair are free. For more details about the 2014 Community Career Resource Fair, contact Adams, at badams@moultrietech.edu.
