WASHINGTON - U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss, R-Ga., has announced that 20-year-old Moultrie resident Nicole Nagy is serving as the press intern in his Washington, D.C. office.

Nagy, a junior at Georgia Southern University, will work for Chambliss for four weeks. Her responsibilities include writing and editing news releases, maintaining the media contact database, and notifying members of the media of Chambliss' public schedule. She is also responsible for assisting Georgians who visit the capitol as well as the legislative correspondence staff.

Nagy will have the opportunity to research legislation, attend Senate hearings, and lectures while in Washington. In addition, she will have the opportunity to assist with television interviews and news conferences.

"Nicole is an energetic and eager young person," said Chambliss. "Her hard work and dedication will be valuable in helping serve Georgians."

"It is both an honor and a privilege to intern for Senator Chambliss and his staff I am excited about what I'm going to learn this summer and all the people that I'm going to meet. I'm convinced that my experiences here will further shape who I am," said Nagy. "It still amazes me every morning to see the Capitol building."

Nagy is pursuing a degree from Georgia Southern in early childhood education and is minoring in political science. She is a member of Kappa Delta Sorority where she serves as the assistant treasurer. Additionally, Nagy is a member of Georgia Southern's intramural soccer team.

Nagy is the daughter of Lt. Col. Paul and Ora Sue Nagy of Moultrie, and the granddaughter of Violet Nagy, also of Moultrie
