FUNSTON -- Ms. Willean Walker, 36, of Funston died Saturday, Aug. 17, 2002 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Sale City with the Revs. W.C. Whitfield and W.B. Sales officiating. Burial will be in Red Hill Cemetery in Pebble City. Pallbearers will be Melvin Toombs Jr., Gerald Toombs, Curtis Walker, Kevin B. Walker, Jimmy Walker Jr. and Forrest Toombs.
Born Aug. 14, 1966, in Mitchell County, Ms. Walker was the daughter of Mrs. Katherine Walker and the late Simon Swan. She was a social worker and a Baptist.
Survivors include her mother, Mrs. Katherine Walker of Baconton; brothers, James W. Walker Jr. of Doerun, Jimmy L. Walker, Henry L. Walker (Christine), both of Sale City, Freddie D. Walker (Sonya) of Boynton Beach, Fla., Johnny L. Walker (Patricia) of Upper Malboro, Md., and Eddie L. Walker (Lanette) of Visalia, Calif.; sisters, Mary Toombs (Melvin) of Baconton, Catherine Williams (Earnest) of Moultrie, Willie Bell Walker of Hartsfield, Betty J. Bell of Doerun, Dorothy J. Walker of Camilla and Terri Moore (Lewis) of Baconton; a devoted companion, Joseph Robinson of Funston; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
The body will be placed in the church one hour before the service.
The family may be contacted at the residence of Mrs. Katherine Walker, 12069 Hwy. 93, Baconton.

Vessie Cornelia Woodward Bowers
MOULTRIE -- Vessie Cornelia Woodward Bowers, 85, of Moultrie died Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2002, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24, at First Baptist Church Chapel with Dr. Jerry Mahan and the Rev. Roger Benton officiating. Burial will be in Westview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Anthony Evans, Scott Dunlap, Cecil Bowers, Duncan Sinclair, Johnny Radney, David Hamm and Torey Wingate.
Born Oct. 8, 1916, in Norman Park, Mrs. Bowers was the daughter of the late Jenny Crosby Woodward and Isaac Newton Woodward. She was a sales associate with Belk Department Store and was a member of First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William David "D" Bowers.
Survivors include a son, Woody Bowers of Moultrie; nephews, Fred Dunlap and wife Charlotte of Baton Rouge, La., and Ray Dunlap and wife Tina of Leesburg; and several great-nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. tonight at the funeral chapel.
The family may be contacted at the residence.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund.

Elsie Marie Horne Masonoff
DOERUN -- Elsie Marie Horne Masonoff, 61, of Doerun died Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2002, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24, at Deep Bottom Cemetery with the Rev. Daniel Brock officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Ivy Davis, Lavon Ackley, Joseph McMurphy, Jack Cannon Jr., Ed Ackley and the Rev. Daniel Brock.
Born Dec. 9, 1940, in Tampa, Fla., Mrs. Masonoff was the daughter of Ruth Rose Dugas and the late James Oswald Horne. She was a housekeeper and a member of the Assembly of God
She was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip Masonoff; a son, Vincent Paul Masonoff; two stepsons, Phillip Masonoff Jr. and Ferdinand Masonoff; a half-brother, James Ralph Horne; a sister, Alma J. Mosley; a half-sister, Susan Horne; and grandparents, Lewis and Madine Horne.
Survivors include her mother and stepfather, Ruth Rose Dugas and Clay A. Dugas of Tampa, Fla.; a son, Christopher Masonoff of New Bedford, Mass.; daughters, Ruth Marie Mercer of Doerun and Lillian Catsules of New Bedford, Mass.; a sister, Linda Eaddy of Tampa, Fla.; and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. tonight at the funeral chapel.

MOULTRIE -- Kenneth W. Hamm, 63, of Moultrie died Sunday, Aug. 18, 2002, in Moultrie.

Beverly Jean Newton
LAKE PARK -- Beverly Jean Newton, 58, of Lake Park died on Aug. 17, 2002.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today, Aug. 23, at First Baptist Chapel, Moultrie. Burial will be held in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
She was born on Dec. 2, 1943, in Fort McPherson to Sara Jean Luke and the late Olan Blair. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Moultrie.
She is survived by her husband, James T. (Tom) Newton Jr. of Lake Park; son, Kelly Scott Newton of Garden City, Ga.; stepsons, Jerry Newton and George W. (Billy) Newton, both of Alaska; mother, Sara Jean Luke; brother-in-law, Tom Newton III of Moultrie, Gene Newton of Middleburg, Fla.; stepbrothers and stepsisters, Wesley Luke of Lake Park, Marion Phelps of Hahira, Janis Rouland of Valdosta, Steve Luke of Atlanta and Cathy of Alabama.
