Nelson David Bowman Jr.

VALDOSTA -- Nelson David Bowman Jr., 59, died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2001, at South Georgia Medical Center.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 22, at Cobb-Suncrest Memorial Gardens.

Born Dec. 11, 1941, in New York, N.Y., Mr. Bowman was the son of the late Nelson David Bowman Sr. He was the manager of the Waffle House in Valdosta and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his stepmother, Vera Bowman; a son, Guy Nelson Bowman and wife Melinda of Moultrie; daughters, Dena B. Barrett and husband Greg of Moultrie and Mara B. Dowling of Tuscon, Ariz.; a sister; eight grandchildren, Brandi Bowman Ferguson, Haley Tucker, Shyanne Bowman, Andrew Tucker, Colby Truitt, Shana Dowling, Joel Tucker and Sean Truitt; and two stepgrandchildren, Tyler Cobb and Colby Roberts.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral chapel.

The family may be contacted at the home of Mrs. Shirlie Johnson, 125 Apache Drive, Moultrie.

William Marion "Mr. Mac" McLendon

MOULTRIE -- William Marion "Mr. Mac" McLendon, 92, of Moultrie, died Friday, Oct. 19, 2001, at Sunrise Nursing Home.

Services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 21, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with the Revs. Ronald Barrett and Preston Norman officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. His grandsons will serve as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers.

Born Sept. 15, 1909, in Colquitt County, Mr. McLendon was the son of the late Lillian Manning McLendon and Claude Early McLendon. He was a retired carpenter and a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Singletary McLendon; two daughters, Levene Maddern and Laverne McClure; and a sister, Elizabeth Cole.

Survivors include four daughters, Betty Taylor and Rosalyn Tyson, both of Moultrie, Nell Lennard of Pensacola, Fla., and Elaine Elliott of Ashburn; brothers, Warner McLendon of Funston and Claude McLendon of Thomasville; sisters, Carolyn Knight of Moultrie and Lillian Hooks of Columbus; 24 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. tonight at the funeral chapel.

The family may be contacted at the home of Coy and Rosalyn Tyson, 1924 Georgia Highway 37 East.

Ruth Ann Milligan Kiefer

MORENO VALLEY, Ca. -- Ruth Ann Milligan Kiefer, 68, of Moreno Valley, Calif., formerly of Moultrie, died Monday, Sept. 15, 2001, at Riverside Community Hospital.

Services were held on Sunday, Sept. 21, at United Methodist Church of Moreno Valley. Burial will be in Riverside National Cemetery.

Survivors include her husband, Edward G. Kiefer; two daughters, Eva E. Kiefer, Maryellen Kiefer and Katherine Kiefer-Newman; a son-in-law, Ron Newman; two granddaughters; sisters, Etteen M. Stephens and Theodosia M. Sullivan; and a brother, C. Rainey Milligan.
