George Ray Adams
MOULTRIE -- George Ray Adams, 74, of Moultrie died Monday, Feb. 18, 2002, at his residence.
Services will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 21, at Trinity Baptist Church with Dr. Michael Helms and Dr. Hugh Ward officiating. Burial will be in Westview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Kitchens, Ted Taylor, Mark Kitchens, Lane Wear, Johnny Windom and Cliff Bridges. Members of the Sportsman Coffee Club will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Born Aug. 25, 1927, in Crisp County, Mr. Adams was the son of the late Odessa Reynolds Adams and George William Adams. He was retired from the Georgia Department of Emergency Management and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. Mr. Adams was a U.S. Navy veteran and a Mason.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Dail Adams.
Survivors include two sons, Mike Adams and Keith Adams, both of Moultrie; two daughters, Teresa "Tere" Gibbs of Cordele and Karla Adams of Sarasota, Fla.; two sisters, Hazel Harris of Socorro, N.M. and Annelle Williams of Atlanta; and six grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-noon on Thursday at the funeral chapel.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the National Emphysema Foundation.
Cobb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Warren William Edwards
MOULTRIE -- Warren William Edwards, 69, of Moultrie, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2002, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.
Services will be held 2 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 21, at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Hugh B. Ward officiating. Burial will be in Westview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Robert Duggan, Billy Fallin, Dennard Robison, Mack McLaughlin, Henry Klar, Ronnie Reagan, Dan Jeter and Gene Vereen. Members of the Sportsman Coffee Club will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Born April 18, 1932, in Kissimmee, Fla., Mr. Edwards was the son of the late Mark William Edwards and Flossie Wilson Edwards. He was an insurance executive with Moultrie Insurance Agency. Mr. Edwards was a member of the Kiwanis Club and a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where he was a former elder. He was a board member of the Housing Authority, a past president of the Moultrie-Colquitt County Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Moultrie-Colquitt County Chamber of Commerce Past Presidents Club, a member of the Board of Directors of the Colquitt County Development Authority and a graduate of the University of Florida.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Stokes Edwards of Moultrie; a son, Mark William Edwards II and wife Julie of Birmingham, Ala.; two daughters, Sarah James Edwards of Atlanta and Lynn Evans Johnson of Birmingham, Ala.; a brother, Norman Wendell of Nacogdoches, Texas; and five grandchildren, Catherine Edwards, Will Edwards, Emily Edwards, Gunter Johnson and Evans Johnson.
The family will receive friends at the home residence.
Harrell-Faircloth Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials can be made to the First Presbyterian Church or other charity of your choice.
Judy Flynn
ATHENS -- Judy Flynn, 70, of Athens, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2002.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 21, at Milledge Avenue Baptist Church with Dr. Edward Bolen officiating. Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 22, at Westview Cemetery in Moultrie.
A native and longtime resident of Moultrie, she was a former member of Trinity Baptist Church. Mrs. Flynn was a daughter of the late Sarah Benton and Charles Henderson Powell Sr., and the widow of Dr. James T. Flynn Jr. She attended Sullins College, Bristol, Va., and the University of Georgia, where she was a member of Phi Mu Sorority. Mrs. Flynn was a member of the National Society of The Colonial Dames of America. She was a resident of Athens for the last five years and was a member of Milledge Avenue Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Julia Keen Steele and Lucy S. Bell, both of Athens; son, Shelley Steele of Bogart; brother, Charles Henderson Powell Jr. of Birmingham, Ala.; five granddchildren; two nieces; and one nephew.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the
funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Milledge Avenue Baptist Church, American Heart Association or Alzheimers Association.

MOULTRIE -- Leona Beckham Hires, 78, of Moultrie, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2002, at Brownwood Nursing Home.

MOULTRIE -- Bernardina Jahuey Baquero, 29, of Moultrie, died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002, in Worth County.
Services will be held in Cerritos Remedios, Mexico.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, Feb. 20, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Cobb Funeral Chapel.
