MOULTRIE -- The Colquitt County Sheriff's Department recovered stolen property from at least nine burglary cases on May 20.

Investigator Donald Davis said the sheriff's department was able to break the case when employees at American Pawn informed them of a Hispanic juvenile attempting to pawn jewelry. The recovered property included six guns, four televisions, Playstation 2 and X-Box systems and jewelry.

Davis said he estimated the total value of the recovered property is anywhere between $8,000 and $9,000. Owners of the property have been notified and investigators will return the property upon confirmation of ownership.

Sheriff's investigators were first notified around 10 a.m. May 20 when the juvenile attempted to pawn the jewelry, and Davis said they were able to capture the boy when he returned to American Pawn the following day.

Investigators interviewed the boy's mother, and she informed investigators there was "a bunch" of property she did not know where it came from, Davis said. The boy lived with his mother at a residence on Lawrence Road.

When investigators spoke to the boy, Davis said, he told them there were two other Hispanic juveniles involved. All three boys allegedly involved are 16 years old.

Davis said investigators have not recovered all of the items involved in the burglaries. The sheriff's investigators said they owe big thanks to American Pawn for informing them about the stolen jewelry because their information broke the case.
