MOULTRIE — A Moultrie man was treated for smoke inhalation from a house fire Saturday morning.

The Moultrie Fire Department was called to 203 Seventh St. N.W. at 9:12 a.m. Saturday. When they arrived, firefighters saw heavy smoke coming from the house. Its occupants, Yolanda Wingfeild and Wiley Davis, were already outside the house.

Davis was complaining of smoke inhalation, and he was treated at the scene by firefighters and Colquitt County EMS. He was reported to have been taken to Colquitt Regional Medical Center for treatment, but a hospital spokesperson could not find a record of him being admitted.

Firefighters were to able to extinguish the fire, which ignited in a bedroom, but they could not determine what started the fire. There was heavy fire damage to two bedrooms, heavy heat and smoke damage throughout the house and mild fire damage to the attic. Firefighters tore into the attic to extinguish the blaze.

In addition to the firefighters and EMS, volunteers from the Sunbelt Area Chapter of the American Red Cross were on hand to provide assistance.
