REED BINGHAM STATE PARK — Reed Bingham State Park is planning its annual Memorial Weekend Celebration, which will be held Friday-Sunday, May 22-24.

The weekend kicks off with “Gators in the Dark,” a nighttime boat ride to let participants see alligators and other nocturnal creatures up close. Cost is $1 per child and $2 per adult. Rides start at 9 p.m. and end at 9:55 p.m.

On Saturday, the park hosts its Kiddie Fishing Rodeo for children 12 and younger. Bring your own bait and gear. Prizes go to the winners. Fishing starts at 9 a.m. and the rodeo ends at 11.

Also Saturday will be pontoon boat rides and animal programs. The rides cost $1 per child and $2 per adult. The animal programs are free. Check with the park office for times and locations.

Sunday starts with an 8 a.m. birding hike. Sign up at the office to participate in the guided, 1-1/2-hour hike. Bring binoculars and bug spray.

Pontoon boat rides and animal programs will be held again on Sunday.

A $5 park pass is required on all vehicles.
