MOULTRIE — A Moultrie convenience store was robbed at gunpoint Monday night.

James Emory reported a black male came into the Express Lane on North Main Street about 11 p.m. Monday. He was carrying a gun and demanded money from the store’s cash register.

As the robber left the store, a witness told officers she saw him walk around the store. She stated she tried to call 911 from her cell phone but did not get an answer until her third attempt. She stated she believed officers would have been able to make contact with the robber, if not place him under arrest, had the 911 center answered her first call.

Emory described the robber as a black male wearing a black covering over his face and body. A store manager came to the scene following the robbery and told officers about $170 cash was stolen.

This is the third armed robbery in the Colquitt County area since Friday. The Ameris Bank branch in Doerun was robbed Friday afternoon, and the Jesus Maria No. 3 in Omega was robbed at knifepoint Monday morning.
