A Moultrie man was in good condition Monday afternoon after a Saturday morning single-vehicle accident in which his truck struck a culvert and tree.
Willie Frank Shealey, 42, and passenger Maurice Davis, 54, of Moultrie were both transported to Colquitt Regional Medical Center following the accident at about 1 a.m. on Indian Lake Drive. Davis was treated and released, while Shealey remained hospitalized, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Shealey told a Georgia State Patrol trooper the last thing he remembered before the accident was passing out, an agency spokeswoman said.
Shealey was driving north on Indian Lake Drive south of J.O. Stewart Road when the 2000 Ford Explorer went off the right side of the roadway, the patrol spokeswoman said. Shealey overcorrected and the truck began spinning and went off the left side of the roadway where it struck the culvert and a pine tree.
Shealey has been charged with driving under the influence, failure to maintain lane, possession of an open container in the passenger area, driving while license suspended or revoked and a tire violation.
