MOULTRIE — A full-scale emergency response exercise will take place on an undisclosed date and time between March 18 and 25 at a local school in Moultrie, the school system said on Monday.
The drill, or exercise, will include the participation of various emergency response agencies. While this drill is not being conducted in response to any actual threat or situation, recent events at schools, colleges and universities across the United States have emphasized the importance of training for not only emergency response agencies but also faculty and staff members at all schools, according to a press release from the school system.
The exercise will take place at various locations throughout a local school campus, the press release said. No roads or highways near the campus are expected to be closed, and any impact to the community should be minimal.
Residents should be aware that real life sights and sounds may be seen and heard along the periphery of the campus and through a variety of emergency response vehicles in the area.
This exercise will not interrupt public safety services, the school system said.
Residents in the area should continue reporting real world emergencies by dialing 9-1-1.
