U.S. Senate candidate Michelle Nunn will be in Moultrie on Tuesday afternoon for a meet-and-greet event hosted by the Colquitt County Democratic Party.
Nunn is scheduled to be at the Colquitt County Arts Center from noon to 1:30 p.m.
Nunn, who will face Republican nominee David Perdue in the fall, is the daughter of former U.S. Sen. Sam Nunn, a Democrat who served from 1972 to 1997.
After college, Nunn joined the nonprofit organization Hands on Atlanta, the Colquitt County Democratic Party said in a news release, and in May 1990 she became executive director.
“Over the next 20 years, Hands on Atlanta put in more than 6 million hours, and its founders credited Nunn with a significant role in helping the program grow,” the statement said. “Over time Hands on Atlanta had proven successful with a budget of $1 million and over 11,000 volunteers on its mailing list. She now serves as CEO of Points of Light, a foundation derived from President George H.W. Bush and his ‘thousand points of light.’”
The Colquitt County Democratic Committee invites all citizens to come out and welcome Nunn to Moultrie.
