MOULTRIE — A Moultrie man was apprehended after he allegedly fired gunshots at others Thursday morning. Another man sought for questioning in the incident also faces unrelated charges.

Robert Lee Fuller, 25, of 1330 Highway 319 N. Lot 56, was charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Moultrie police officers responded to 11th Court Northwest at 11:22 a.m. Thursday about shots being fired. Several people reported hearing or witnessing an incident that took place at the Third Avenue Northwest and 11th Court Northwest intersection.

The location was the same place where Amos Goram reported a male suspect shot his vehicle twice about 11:15 p.m. Tuesday, but it isn’t known whether the two incidents are related.

Details of what happened aren’t clear, but police said the incident involved Fuller and three other people.

Several hours after the alleged shooting took place, police determined Fuller allegedly had shot at an unknown person with a pistol. He was placed under arrest and taken to Colquitt County Jail on charges at 6:22 p.m. Thursday.

As officers were responding to the reported shooting, an officer spotted a man, later identified as Ricardo Hamilton, 21, of 816 Northside Drive, Apt. 2, who matched a description of someone allegedly involved. The officer saw him walking along Martin Luther King Jr. Drive at 11:32 a.m., but Hamilton allegedly ran from the officer before the officer could speak with him.

A second officer began chasing Hamilton on foot, the suspect jumped several fences, and then he allegedly came at a third officer in an aggressive manner. The third officer pulled out his gun and ordered Hamilton to the ground, which he did, and he was placed under arrest by the other officers.

After Hamilton was arrested, police found he had several warrants for his arrest. He was charged with obstruction, criminal trespassing, simple battery (family violence) and cruelty to children (third degree).
