MOULTRIE, Ga. — Colquitt County Board of Education member Trudie Hill has been named to the 2019 Georgia School Boards Association Governmental Operations Committee.
The GSBA president annually makes appointments to this committee after considerable deliberation with the staff and Board of Directors. As a member of this committee, Hill would not only represent the local school board, but would represent the interests of all of Georgia’s school boards. The responsibilities of the GOC are considerable and the committee’s role is more critical than ever in light of education reform, according to a press release from the Colquitt County School System.
Duties of the GOC include voting on the recommendations for legislative positions submitted by the GSBA membership and offering its recommendations to the GSBA Delegate Assembly during the 2019 Summer Conference.
At the Delegate Assembly, one voting delegate from each local school board votes on the GOC recommendations, and the resulting document of GSBA legislative positions becomes the cornerstone that guides GSBA efforts for the coming year.
Hill has been asked to serve as a member of the GOC that will offer recommendations for legislative positions to be voted on at the 2019 Georgia School Board Association Summer Conference & Delegate Assembly.
