MOULTRIE -- Spencer Richardson's second base hit of the game drove in Justin Murphy with the winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning as VFW defeated Moultrie Post Form in a key Pony League game on Monday at the Magnolia Sports Complex.

The victory allowed VFW to take a half-game lead over Reynolds Construction in the league standings with less than two weeks remaining in the season.

Cory Bridwell pitched the fifth and sixth innings to get the victory. Michael Murray had a home run for VFW, which raised its record to 9-3.

Reynolds Construction is 8-3 and will meet Bank of America at 6 p.m. Thursday before its showdown with VFW at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

In Monday's other Pony League game, Josh Moore struck out 16 batters as Captain D's blanked Norman Park 4-0.

Moore also had two hits, including a home run, and Terry Mitchell and Austin Cannon also had two hits for Captain D's, which raised its record to 8-4 with its third win in a row.

Matthew Reynolds had two hits for Norman Park, which falls to 7-5.

In Monday's Midget League action, Doerun raised its record to 10-0 with an 8-3 victory over Moultrie Insurance Agency.

Andrew McDowell was the winning pitcher for Doerun, which got two hits each from Cody McLean and Nova Williams.

Doerun can finish the regular season undefeated if it can get past Davis Insurance at 6 p.m. Friday.

Davis Insurance raised its record to 7-2 on Monday with a 17-8 victory over Harper-McCall.

Cory Tucker was the winning pitcher and had two hits and Justin Hart had three hits for Davis Insurance.

Austin York had two hits for Harper-McCall, 1-7-1.

United Storage won its second game in a row, defeating Clements Pools 12-4 on Monday.

Stephen Tyus was the winning pitcher and got offensive help from Patrick Taylor, Michael Connell and Matthew Mitchell, each of whom has two hits.

Bryan Dell had three hits and Lawrence Glenn two for Clements Pools, 4-6.

Ashley Chafin had five hits as Quality Employment defeated Mobley Plant 15-8 in Monday's other Midget League game.

Anthony Cortes was the wining pitcher and Spencer Clayton and Shaun Soderstrom each had two hits for Quality Employment, now 4-5-1.

Beau Holden had two hits for Mobley Plant, now 2-6.

Farm Bureau solidified its hold on first place in the Farm League by beating Wendy's 17-7 on Monday.

Dylan Gray, Daniel Chafin and Logan Gurley each had two hits for Farm Bureau, now 8-1.

Justin Bates had three hits and Tyler Powell and Daylon Connell two each for Wendy's, now 4-5.

ABC got three hits from Taylor Barber and two each from Vann Pitts, Bo Blalock and Zac Goodno in its 12-2 Farm League victory over Bank of America. ABC raised its record to 5-2-1.

Aston Brightwell had two hits for Bank of America, now 6-3.

On Friday, two games that were suspended by rain on April 30 will be continued.

Random Design will finish its game against ABC beginning at 6 p.m.

Taco Bell and Rocky's will complete their game starting at 7:15 p.m.

In Monday's Tiny Mite action, Larry's Bait and Tackle defeated Lindsey Farms 8-4, and Holman Supply won over Southwest Georgia Bank 4-2.
