MOULTRIE — A man trapped in his Volkswagen Beetle after a two-car collision Tuesday remained in serious condition at Archbold Medical Center on Wednesday.
Moultrie police said James Wayne Frasier, 192 Connell Road, ran the stop sign on Fourth Avenue at Second Street Southeast at about 12:50 p.m. Tuesday and was “T-boned” by an oncoming Chevrolet Tahoe.
The impact pressed Frasier’s Beetle against a utility pole and a street sign, police and fire department reports said. Firefighters bent the street sign to the ground so they could open the car door to get him out. He was unconscious at that time, the fire department report said.
Frasier faces a charge of failure to stop at a stop sign, police said.
The driver of the Tahoe, Melanie Thomas Hickman, 156 Tallsprings Drive, was also taken to Colquitt Regional Medical Center, where she was treated and released, a hospital spokeswoman said.
