VALDOSTA, Ga. — Twenty-four young men from American Legion District 12 attended Boys State 2019 at Riverside Academy in Gainesville, Ga., from May 26 to June 1.

A total of 291 young men from across the state attended, according to the director, Phil Youngblood.

For the first time in Moultrie’s history a Sons Of American Legion 324 member, Cmdr. Pierce Horton, served as a counselor at this session. Horton attended last year and was enthusiastic upon his return about serving and leading more in his community and was an instrumental leader in forming the  new Sons squadron in Moultrie which was recently chartered by the national Sons of American Legion.
