MOULTRIE — A Baconton man was killed and a Thomasville woman seriously injured in a Thanksgiving morning auto accident near Hartsfield.
Stetson Beasley, 30, was airlifted from the site of the accident to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, Moultrie Fire Department reports said. Lauren Nicole Gutbier was taken by ambulance to Colquitt Regional Medical Center and from there was airlifted to the same hospital.
Both were trapped inside the truck after it struck a tree head-on in the 7500 block of Highway 37 West, fire reports said.
Gutbier was driving Beasley’s truck west on Highway 37, Georgia State Patrol Trooper Michael Moses said Friday. The accident occurred at about 3 a.m.
“She ran off the right side of the road, overcorrected, traveled over the left side and struck a tree,” Moses said.
He said that he saw no evidence at the scene that alcohol played a role in the accident, but the accident remains under investigation.
Beasley was declared dead at 8:58 a.m. on Thursday, Colquitt County Coroner Verlyn Brock said, and Gutbier was in the hospital’s intensive care unit.
Gutbier was in critical condition on Friday, Moses said.
