MOULTRIE — Police seized a half-pound of suspected marijuana and arrested two men on Monday when they pulled over a car matching one to which they had been tipped.
Officers stopped the 2003 Honda Accord at about 12:30 p.m. in the 200 block of Fifth Street northwest, according to Moultrie police. Inside were men later identified as Quentin Earl Hall and Trevious Tre’mond Cooper.
“We received a tip that a wanted person was going to be riding around in a certain vehicle,” Moultrie Police Department Inv. Eric Fries said. “An officer saw and confirmed a vehicle” that fit the description.
“During the stop they (patrol officers) located the marijuana, around eight ounces of marijuana” he said.
The man being sought by police was not inside the car at that time, Fries said.
Cooper, 20, 3230 S.W. 27th St., Gainesville, Fla., and Hall, 19, 122 Fifth St. S.W., were each charged Monday with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
In a separate incident, a woman accused of showing up for a visit to her probation office on Feb. 12 with methamphetamine in her purse faces additional charges.
Melanie Jade Wiley, 30, 404 Seventh Ave. S.W. Apt. E-10, was charged Sunday with possession of hydrocodone and use of communication facilities to violate provisions prohibited.
Police were called to the Southeast Corrections office at 35 N. Main St. on Feb. 12 because there was an outstanding warrant for her arrest, Fries said.
At that time, according to police, she was charged with possession of methamphetamine and probation violation. A search of her purse turned up four syringes, about $1,175, a plastic bag containing 11 smaller bags and a plastic bag containing suspected methamphetamine, and eight white pills, police said.
