Sunday October 23, the Colquitt County Baptist Association celebrated it's 100th birthday at First Baptist Church in Moultrie.
I must say it was awesome to see all the church members and ministers in the association gather in one place to worship the Lord and celebrate the association's birthday and give praise to the Lord.
Approximately 800 people-plus attended the celebration.
The special guest speaker was Rev. Gerald Harris, editor of the Christian Index. Rev. Harris did a wonderful job.
Also, on Sunday night the choirs from Norman Park First Baptist and First Baptist Moultrie sang and gave praise to the Lord. It was outstanding.
The celebration did not end on Sunday night. It continued at Funston Baptist Church on Monday night Oct. 24. I believe there were between 200 and 300 believers in Christ who attended the celebration at Funston Baptist Church.
Dr. Harris again gave a great message and the choir from Funston Baptist did an outstanding job. Also, two ladies from the association gave praise through singing specials.
At both events, First Baptist and Funston Baptist prepared food for those in attendance. Boy it was good.
Our association is very blessed to have Dr. Terrell Ruis as our associational minister. Dr. Ruis did an outstanding job in putting the 100th anniversary together. He even wrote a book about the Colquitt County Baptist Association. Thanks to Mrs. Kim Hancock for helping Dr. Ruis with putting together the celebration event.
To all the ministers in our association, I want to say "thanks" for all you do. I know each and every church in the association appreciates you very much. We in Colquitt County are blessed to have an amazing group of Christian believers, ministers, song leaders, youth ministers, and children ministers.
To God Be the Glory.
