I agree with Rush. I hope President Obama will fail! Obama wants to move our country far left. His policies are bringing us more liberalism, more socialism, more government control and higher taxes. I believe his policies are bad for America . Why would I want to support him in these efforts? Why would I want him to succeed at this?
I want America to succeed. I want our economy to improve. I hope Obama makes wise decisions and will serve our country well. I just don’t support his current policies. I don’t want these far-left policies to succeed. For example, look at his Economic Stimulus package which is full of “pork barrel” spending that will only delay the economic recovery and cause hyper-inflation and higher unemployment. This bill is likely to make Obama the next “Jimmy Carter”!
Your January 27th editorial did not take Rush’s comments in context. Allow me to quote from the transcript of his January 16 broadcast that you referred to. Rush Limbaugh in his own words:
“I’ve been listening to Barack Obama for a year-and-a-half. I know what his policies are. I know what his plans are, as he has stated them. I don’t want them to succeed…what he’s talking about is the absorption of as much of the private sector by the U.S. Government as possible; from the banking business to the mortgage industry, the automobile business, to health care. I do not want the government in charge of these things. I don’t want this to work. I hope he fails”.
“What is unfair about my saying I hope liberalism fails? Liberalism is our problem. Liberalism is what’s gotten us dangerously close to the precipice here. Why do I want more of it? We’re talking about my country, the United States of America, my nieces, my nephews, your kids, your grandkids. Why in the world do we want to saddle them with more liberalism and socialism? Why would I want to do that? So I can answer it, four words: ‘I hope he fails.”
Being opposed to the ‘resident is nothing new. Back in August of 2006, according to a FOX News/Opinion poll, 51 percent of Democrats wanted then-president Bush to fail. That was when we were fighting a war! I don’t remember a media-led outcry at that time. Now the media, with encouragement from the Obama White House, is attacking Rush for wanting socialism to fail.
Mr. editor, you may disagree with Rush’s assessment of President Obama’s policies, but using sensationalistic rhetoric towards those of us who agree with Rush does nothing as an editorialist to encourage discussion and debate.
Your name calling and ridiculing of those, like myself, who are concerned about the direction this president is taking this country, sounds more like “schoolyard bullying” than thoughtful discourse!
It puts you in the same category you referred to in your editorial as the quasi “shock Jocks”.
