Dear editor: After a meeting with county administrator, lawyer, finance and roads and bridges on issues involving our commissioners (more is accomplished after a meeting), the consensus of opinion was, it would be helpful if "I" would quit writing negatively about the commissioners actions. The commission is trying to do a good job: Take for instance the moratorium on chicken farms, commissioners received applause on this action from a large turnout, well let me also add my applause. If our county commission is attempting a turn-around of their attitude toward their bosses, (the taxpayers) of this county. I applaud them. Now on the issue of my negative writing: I suggest, negative seeks positive. I suggest the commissioners take notice of the institution they are charged with supervising, funding and advising. Our Colquitt County-owned hospital. Checked their budget a few years ago versus present-day budget on public relations, the hospital board presently is quick to address public concerns - as should our county commissioners. (Your silence is deafening at times, try letting the public in on your plans for a successful Colquitt County). On Mr. Stine’s views for public involvement with our local government I find that his views to be on point. Public embarrassment of greedy local government works pretty good also. It is a tool of last resort, which I have employed on Moultrie City Council's egregious actions of providing health insurance to friends and council that matches that bunch of politicians in and around Washington , D C . ( Public mental health being at risk does not seem to bother our Moultrie council, you see, your actions affect a vastly unaware public.) Tom Rogers Moultrie
