I am writing to encourage the registered voters of Colquitt County to vote for and support the upcoming Special Local Option Sales Tax that will be on the July 18 primary election ballot.
The approval of this SPLOST will enable the smaller towns, the City of Moultrie, and the county to make capital improvements that would otherwise be impossible to accomplish.
The leaders of Norman Park, Ellenton, Funston, Berlin, Doerun and Riverside can tell you firsthand and without SPLOST funds, future vital improvements cannot be made.
The current SPLOST ends Dec. 31, 2006. The approval of the SPLOST on the July 18 ballot will not take effect until January 1, 2007. Therefore, this would be a continuation, not an additional one cent tax.
The cities’ and county’s road improvements depend solely on this tax ... a fair tax where everyone pays when purchases are made in Colquitt County.
Please support the cities and county with the passage of this tax.
