Dear editor:

Once again it’s time to come out and enjoy beautiful Downtown Moultrie at the annual Spring Fling and Backyard BBQ Festival, this Friday and Saturday on the Courthouse Square.

Spring Fling kicks off Friday evening at 8 p.m. with a free concert by one of South Georgia’s favorite bands, the Kinchafoonee Cowboys.

So bring your lawn chairs and blankets for a great concert under the stars.

Saturday festivities get rolling at 9:00 a.m. with traditional Spring Fling activities, as well as some new events like artist demonstrations that include everything from guitar makers to glass blowers.

And of course there will be a BBQ-competition, a huge variety of arts and craft vendors, great food, and entertainment all day long on two stages.

We are also bringing back the “Battle of the Bands” to this year’s Spring Fling, which has been absent from the festival for many years.

We’re excited that several local bands and solo artists have signed-up, so come out and cheer for your favorite acts on our new South Main Street Stage starting at 3:00 p.m.

Spring Fling is truly a family affair with lots of kid-friendly activities, including an Egg Treasure Hunt at 9:30 a.m. and a visit by the Easter Bunny, so don’t forget your cameras!

If you haven’t been downtown lately, Spring Fling is a perfect opportunity to come see all the exciting things that have been happening in Downtown Moultrie.  We’ve become a popular shopping and dining destination, with lots of new retail and culinary choices.

Many of our merchants will be offering specials all day long, So come on down to this year’s Spring Fling and Backyard BBQ for some down-home fun, food and entertainment – you won’t be disappointed!
