Moultrie has a problem: the “T” intersection of Lower Meigs Rd and South Main Street.  It is such a dangerous intersection even with a traffic light.  The speed limit is 45 mph because it is a highway, I am told.

There was a terrible wreck recently with 3 women being taken to 3 different hospitals. One was airlifted to Tallahassee. I do not know the cause but as those of us who travel that route daily, we are aware of the danger there.

When driving north on South Main to make a left turn, one is coming up a slight curve and slight hill and it is hard to see over the slight hill. What one must do is to look out for the car traveling south toward the hospital that is not going the speed limit but most times at 55 mph. They rush so that they can pass all the cars on the right and get ahead of everyone.

As for the car that is turning left onto Lower Meigs at the light, one cannot see the speeding car because there is a slight dip ahead. Suddenly as you are trying to turn there is a car speeding at you, causing many scary times.

I think there are many missed accidents there. If the state would reduce the speed limit to 35 that intersection would be so much safer.  How can we the people of Moultrie get this problem solved?
