The Doerun City government has gotten completely out of control, and lost all contact or suggestions from the citizens and tax payers.
To begin with, our local politicians must realize, they are the "Voice of Their Constituents". They are not there for any personal gain or agenda. To move forward as a community, they must realize that the local citizens are footing the bill for government and have the right to a "voice" to be heard by our officials. Any person attending a monthy city council meeting, to address a problem, must first get the city clerk to sign you up for permission to speak.
They (mayor and councilmen) will be well aware that you're going to either bring a complaint, or suggestion before you get there, and already made up their minds as to what you can say, if they'll listen, and what their decision is before you get there.
I felt I was over-charged for sewage use the month of August, for watering 12 tomatoe plants. My water bill tripled and sewage was more than the water bill. In talking to over 50 citizens, voters, and tax payers of Doerun, they agreed with me, and not with the city.
Can all of these people be wrong and the city be right? Also, a high number of these citizens told me they were being over-charged for sewage. We've been paying an add-on sewage fee now for several years, due to some extensive Ssewage repair. I understand from a good source, that this repair money was a grant that was entended for the city to improve not only the sewage, but also for the police department and tthe bew Doerun libary.
The libary took preference, and cost more than intended, thus, no money for the sewage. And the city had to borrow money to complete this pork project. So the misuse for this grant money, became a burden for the citizens and tax payers of Doerun. And, the problem gets worse, because our government knows more than the people, and what we say does not matter.
