Practically every family in Colquitt County is affected by cancer. A very important event is taking place on May 11 and 12.
Colquitt County’s 14th annual Relay for Life, sponsored by the American Cancer Society will be held on those two days.
The Relay will take place at the Knuck McCrary Sports Complex.
Cancer deaths have dropped in the last two years,by a small percentage, but still a drop. Your continuous support for this wonderful organization has helped bring about that success. We are looking for teams to participate in this year’s Relay.
If you can’t walk, you can bring your rocking chair and “rock” the night away. Team registration is $100. You could have 10 team members and donate $10 each and have your registration fee. We would like for each team to raise at least $1,000.
If you can’t walk or rock, you can purchase luminaries for $5 or torches for $100 in memory or in honor of someone touched y cancer. These can be purchased from any participating team and it will help them in their fundraising.
I urge all civic clubs, senor groups, youth groups and churches to take part in this event.
Interested teams can contact team committee chairman Jeanene Hinson and her team at Commercial Banking Company at 985-7600 or Alice Griner, Relay for Life chairman at 985-7583.
I appreciate your support and hope to see your on the track or “rocking” the night away.
Relay for Life chairman, 2007
