A Nashville man accused in a quintuple murder in 2005 pleaded guilty Monday to five counts of felony murder.

Jerry Johnny Thompson was scheduled for trial Dec. 5. In return for the plea, the state agreed to waive the death penalty. Judge Richard M. Cowart immediately sentenced thompson to life in prison on one count of the indictment; he reserved sentencing on the other four counts until the disposition of the state's case against co-defendant Alexander Woods III of Valdosta.

Cowart has also issued a "gag order" restricting comment to the media by the parties in this case until after a disposition in Woods' case.
