MOULTRIE — Stephen Moore went the distance on the mound, going six strong innings, and collected two hits as well as Clements Pools won its Pony League opener 5-2 over Quality Employment on Monday at the Magnolia Sports Complex.

Brandon Sellers also had two hits for Clements Pools. Beau Weathers had two for Quality Employment.

In Monday’s other Pony League game, VFW won its opener over Southwest Georgia Bank 12-1.

Ryan Sherling went the first three innings on the mound and got the win. Sherling also joined Russ DeMott, Ryan Ward and Chandler Carswell in getting two hits for VFW.

In the first night of Midget League action, Davis Insurance opened with a 6-5 victory over Mobley Plant.

Daren Kent pitched the final three innings to get the win.

Kent relieved Dustin McAlpin, who pitched the first three innings and also had two hits for Davis Insurance.

Kyle Tolbert pitched two innings and Aubrey McCarty three for Mobley Plant.

Jimmy Skeen was the winning pitcher as Southwest Georgia Bank won its season-opener 13-2 over Quality Employment.

Andrew Carlton and Skyler Lindsey each had two hits in the win for Southwest Georgia Bank.

Wendy’s opened its Farm League season with a 19-2 victory over McAlpin Signs.

Beau Dalton, Austin Mercer, Alex Pate, Hunter Kimble, Gabe Mobley and Dalton Dillon each had three hits for Wendy’s. Zackary Murphy and Isaac Hall each had two.

Eli Stripling, Ross Goforth, Austin Hunnicutt and John Baker each had two hits for McAlpin Signs.

Southwest Georgia Bank blanked Ameris in the other Farm League opener.

Ben Shiflett and Cason Wells each had three hits for Southwest Georgia Bank. Teammates Daniel Mobley, Colby Reneker, Warren Funderburk, Samuel Smith and Ryan Holland each had two.
