The Colquitt County boys tennis team defeated Valdosta 5-0 for the third time this season on Tuesday at Packer Park and will take an 8-1 record into next week’s full schedule.
After several years of dropping close matches to the Wildcats, the Packers have turned the tables this season, winning easily in each of the three matches.
On Tuesday, Andrew Harvin at No. 1 singles defeated Brent Ellis 6-0, 6-2.
Bo Blalock defeeated Andrew Greneker 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2.
And David Forehand took down Dallen Anderson 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3 singles.
Brandon Oaks and Nick Nichols had little trouble with Chaka Fares and Sunny Gupta, winning 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles.
John Barber and Ricky Patel won at No. 2 doubles 6-3, 6-3 over Ryan Mize and Robert Wehling.
In extra matches, Coby King won 8-0; Ben Hegwood lost 2-8; Cole Wilkes lost 3-8; Ridge Underwood and Jon Mobley won 8-1; and Phillip long and Cameron Johnson won 8-1.
The Colquitt County girls fell 0-5 to the Lady Cats, although both doubles matches went to third set tiebreakers.
At No. 1 singles, Eric Mobley lost 2-6, 1-6. At No. 2, Hannah Radney fell 1-6, 0-6. And at No. 3, Conley Ward lost 2-6, 3-6.
Rachel Funderburk and Ansley Moore lost at No. 1 doubles, 6-7, 6-4, 8-10. At No. 2 doubles, Haley Cash and Aislin Sheffield fell 5-7, 6-4, 3-6.
In extra matches, Catie Statom lost 8-9; Heather Hardy lost 6-8; Lindsey Stapleton won 8-2; Desirae Cash and Jasmin Garza lost 4-8; and Statom won 8-1.
Colquitt will play host to Tift County on Tuesday at Packer Park.
