MOULTRIE -- Moss Farms coach Ron Piemonte took eight of his divers to the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association's state meet on Saturday at the Cobb County Aquatic Center in Marietta and the group brought back seven gold, four silver and one bronze medal.
The meet drew some 80 divers from Atlanta, Griffin, Gwinnett County, Athens, Dalton and Moultrie.
Bringing gold medals back to Moultrie were Leah Piemonte, Maddie Qurnell, Ann Perry Blank, Anna Aguero and Janae Shirley.
Piemonte and Aguero were double gold winners.
Diving in the 9-and-under age group, Piemonte won on both springboards and posted a 150.60 on the 3-meter board.
Aguero, in the 14-15 age group took the 1-meter competition with a 273.00 and the 3-meter board with a 314.80.
"She hit every dive," Ron Piemonte said.
"She blew everybody out of the water."
Qurnell, diving in the girls 13-and-under age group, was first on 3-meter with a 230.75.
"Maddie didn't miss a dive on 3-meter," Ron Piemonte said.
She also was second on the 1-meter board with a 212.60 and was 25 points ahead of the third-place diver, Ron Piemonte said.
Blank won the girls 13-and-under 1-meter competition 217.15. She was third on 3-meter with a 195.40.
Janae Shirley, diving in the girls 16-18 age group, was first on 1-meter with a 222.85.
Shirley was second on 3-meter with a 192.20.
Elizabeth Ann Kirkland won two silver medals in the 9-and-under girls age group.
Megan Cook was sixth on both boards in the girls 13-and-under age group, turning in a 176.00 on 1-meter and a 167.45 on 3-meter.
"Megan did some real nice dives," Piemonte said.
Also diving for the Colquitt County contingent on Saturday was Tevin Hightower, who was fourth on 1-meter in the 11-and-under boys age group with a 77.45."The kids came through real well," Piemonte said.
The Colquitt County contingent was hardly a full one.
A number of the Moss Farms divers are preparing for the Junior Summer East Championships scheduled to begin Thursday in Buffalo, N.Y.
"We had to leave some of them home to healed up and get ready for the meet in Buffalo," Piemonte said.
